Hiya. I'm a small follower of the anime scene. I think I'm picky on he anime I watch so I haven't seen many. My first anime series was Sailor Moon. I was I think in like 6th grade or 7th. I can't remember. Been such a looooong time. They used to show it on Fox at like 6 in the morning just before Bobbys World. I was so surprised to even see it. I turned on the TV and there it was. The animation I don't wanna say i recognized but it had a familar feel to it and then when I saw all the signs in the show werent in english then I realized what I was watching. I had started off movies like Vampire Hunter D and Akira and Wicked City and it was all pretty much before I even knew what anime was. Heck I didn't know for years and years later that Voltron and speed racer was early anime. Kind of snuck that stuff in there on me. "And I'll form the head!!!" hehe. My dad and I always loved that line. Anyways. I've always wanted to particpate more in anime gatherings and meet more people that enjoy anime. But finding where people are seems to be hard. I used to be part of the anime club at UTPA when it was still somewhat baby. I remember Vinson was still an officer. They had their showings in a room there in the ASB. We watched Slayers. I didn't even actually join the club until they turned the second floor at that building across the cafeteria...man. cant remember what its called.. into space for clubs to have offices. Thats when I joined officially. So it was easy to find people to hang out with that enjoyed anime. But now everyone that was there are all gone. It's a whole new cast. I stopped by hoping to see a random old member but no luck. Felt kind of weird and out of place there. My days there had ended. The cast there is so divded now. Hard to even tell whose anime and whose games. Just before I had stopped going completely I remember there was a bunch of new people that went there and then formed a seperate club for just video games cause they didnt like watching anime. And at the time the anime group was the only group that had the video games. I used to take my DC all the time for us to on that big TV they had. Before they changed that into office space for the school. So figured maybe I can start getting back into the scene. Meet new people. Find others that game AND watch anime. Learn where everyone meets. Wow. o.o that was a rather long intro. =^-^= I'm gonna shut up now and just say Hi to everyone. I am the Cat Nip Thief. Master of borrowed goods ph34r.gif . =>.>= yesh its borrowed. *pillages room* What. =o.o= It was just sitting there.

biggrin.gif Welcome fellow thief!! ^__^

wow....that is a long post you've written there ^^; But anywho, welcome to the forums, and I hope you find your stay fun! happy.gif And about transportation and such, we can help ya out! Besides, you can meet fellow con-goers come the end of the month, and then we can spread the shimakon-love biggrin.gif

As for attendence, the first year was a respectable amount, a little over 1500+ so it was a good turn out, and as for cosplaying, well...there was like 26...(i was number 25 >< )
So when 07 came around, I was surprised to see that everything had nearly doubled in size, (coplayers were about 50+)and I assume that it'll be the same come 08. biggrin.gif

Hope to see ya around!

The only events I get to really go to are assuming if they are held down here around edinburg. I have totally no idea how to get to Harlingen but my girlfriend says she knows how to get to the race track there. ^-^;;; typical. Would be nice to get to volunteer in the events that happen down here. I know it was mentioned about picnics. Would be nice to know who i can speak with in learning how to volunteer for that and how I can help.

it's funny that you were at the Pan Am club when they were still a baby club. I was the vice president for about a year and a half. Robert Vinson is now the president. I don't know if I remember you or not from the JAC.

I didn't get very active in the club until they got an office on the second floor. Thats when I started to be there more often and help out in the pizza sales and such. I was gone probably way before you took any office. The only girls I remember being in any staff spot was becky. She was treasure. And then Dolce became treasure. So I've been gone for a good while.
